Hi JS members!
Nice to see so big community here just in few days after initial installation.
We will care about new features, bug fixes and updates.
In few months this place will have most features from an old JS. Only one problem is that I never seen an old JS. Hope you will help us with it
Here is my brief replies to your questions/requests.
> Will you support all the features journalspace the first iteration had?
we will support most of them, but it will need some time
> Im watching too to see what happens. We would like to have our JS blogs back! Will the dead/lost entries be raised?
sorry, it’s impossible to restore all JS data
> Do you intend to make this as ‘old JS’ as possible or are you going to leave it as a wordpress clone?
this system will be WP based with deep customization
> Also are we able to download our blog/posts locally also?
go to your blog’s Dashboard -> Manage -> Export and you will get all your data to local computer!
> How about an API to post from w.bloggar?
go to your blog’s Dashboard -> Settings -> Writing and enable XML-RPC
> They also had a top ten most read blogs on the home page. That was fun. And I liked the most recent comments too. Oh and yes, the most recently updated blogs from your friends and favorites.
we will make these features soon
> I’d like the option to be private like we had Friends & Favorites
this feature is in progress
> I want the homepage and all the features of the latest WordPress Version.
it will be as soon as new WPMU will release, BuddyPress developers plan to release it on February 9th
> I would like to know, did YOU know journalspace from BEFORE the crash?
no, sorry
> I’d like to know when my friends update their journals, please?
will make this feature
> The Counter thing was Amusing on the old JS
placed in to do list
> On a side note, does anyone know why my posts can’t be read and it says that I haven’t made any public posts?
create a new blog here: http://journalspace.com/members/countrygirl/blogs/create-a-blog
> I can’t use my name, either.
most popular usernames were blocked for some time, you can use them now, if someone already taked it, then write to me
> Hi, I can’t log in… I had not checked my blog for a while and from what I can gather, someone else is running JS now. Does this mean that I have lost all of my entries from the beginning of time? That would be terrible news as I never backed up my blog… Could we get some clarification on this?

> More widgets. Would be nice to be able to add widgets from outside Journalspace… like for example a widget that shows your Netflix rental activity or a photo slideshow, or random quotes.
we will add it soon!
Thanks,
The Journalspace.com development team

I will be happy when the privacy feature is in place, glad to hear that

One of the best features on the old JS was a moderation of commercial sites. Many of the problems within the old JS came from the spambots that had accounts or tried to have accounts with JS.

Those who are from the original JS have been through quite a whirlwind over the last few weeks. It will take time for the dust to settle and for us to understand and realize what we have lost and what we have gained. It will take patience on your side and ours as we readjust to what now is and what will be JS. However I enjoyed having a page with my favorites on it in the order in which they updated as my lifestyle is such that I wanted to keep up with their lives but couldn’t just sit down and randomly read and do so. It would be nice to be able to design our own page but on the other hand I found the template on WP that you could add your own photo quite nice and it would be great if you could also choose colors, script, etc.. But at this point I am just sitting back and waiting as the new JS is unveiled. BTW…thanks for how much you have already done!

I was wondering if there is going to be a feature placed where you can see who read your journal? and THANK YOU SO MUCH for bringing this baby back. JS was my safe haven!

You still have a lot of work ahead of you, but we will assist where need if possible.

I am glad to see that the features which made journalspace unique will be available (i.e. fav’s only, recent comments, homepage, etc) but with the ease of the new application. I have been on JS off and on since 2003 and am excited to see it back. It makes me want to post!!!

Ivan, I think I could give you a great big kiss on the cheek for all the hard work you are going!
My top three feature requests are:
1. A list of when my favorites have updated in real-time
2. WordPress stats (or the ability to add SiteMeter)
3. The ability to customize our own layouts from scratch with HTML code
Thank-you so much for working so diligently and for the open communication (that was one of our biggest complaints with the Old JS). You pretty much rock. :o)

My favourite JS feature and what made it unique from the other blogging sites was the ability to fully-customize the entire layout - everything from the style sheet, the body of the layout down to minute details such as how dates were formatted in blog posts.

ditto Faymow… and all that for free!
seeing recent visitors to my blog with their user name and profile icon. It was nice to have that widget

Thank you for all the work you’re doing to restore our beloved JS to it’s original but new and improved state!! I know I appreciate it very much. Thanks for answering the questions. This is awesome
