Why can’t we subtitle our blogs anymore? I would like to put something other than “just another journalspace….” or whatever. sucks.

It’s simple:

Go to Dashboard -> Settings -> Settings -> Tagline

Small fix for widgets

By ivan on Feb 09, 2009

I have noticed some JS members added different widgets into their blogs.

There were thousands entires there if blog owner didn’t enter max number of items there. Due to this issue blog loaded slow.

Now these values are limited if they are not defined.

Fighting comments spam in JS

By ivan on Feb 08, 2009

Spam bots post a lot about Viagra in JornalSpace last weeks.

We have developed a new plugin. It will be more difficult to post new spam comments from now. Hope all members have Javascript enabled in their browser.

Also any member can enable Askimet in Blog’s Dashboard->Plugins tab. Don’t forget to insert free Askimet API key before it will work for you.

In few days we will release spam blogs fighting system.

Password protected entries fix

By ivan on Jan 16, 2009

Hi!

I got a bug report from Samantha Baker yesterday:

I’ve password-protected my entries, but they are still showing up on the homepage for anyone to see, as well as their comments.

I have finished with it today, enjoy with more privacy!

I plan to release a new privacy feature today as well: you will be able to limit post’s access to all/friends/members.

Thanks,
The Journalspace.com development team

Hello JS!

By ivan on Jan 15, 2009

Hi JS members!

Nice to see so big community here just in few days after initial installation.

We will care about new features, bug fixes and updates.

In few months this place will have most features from an old JS. Only one problem is that I never seen an old JS. Hope you will help us with it :)

Here is my brief replies to your questions/requests.

> Will you support all the features journalspace the first iteration had?
we will support most of them, but it will need some time

> Im watching too to see what happens. We would like to have our JS blogs back! Will the dead/lost entries be raised?
sorry, it’s impossible to restore all JS data

> Do you intend to make this as ‘old JS’ as possible or are you going to leave it as a wordpress clone?
this system will be WP based with deep customization

> Also are we able to download our blog/posts locally also?
go to your blog’s Dashboard -> Manage -> Export and you will get all your data to local computer!

> How about an API to post from w.bloggar?
go to your blog’s Dashboard -> Settings -> Writing and enable XML-RPC

> They also had a top ten most read blogs on the home page. That was fun. And I liked the most recent comments too. Oh and yes, the most recently updated blogs from your friends and favorites.
we will make these features soon

> I’d like the option to be private like we had Friends & Favorites
this feature is in progress

> I want the homepage and all the features of the latest WordPress Version.
it will be as soon as new WPMU will release, BuddyPress developers plan to release it on February 9th

> I would like to know, did YOU know journalspace from BEFORE the crash?
no, sorry :(

> I’d like to know when my friends update their journals, please?
will make this feature

> The Counter thing was Amusing on the old JS
placed in to do list

> On a side note, does anyone know why my posts can’t be read and it says that I haven’t made any public posts?
create a new blog here: http://journalspace.com/members/countrygirl/blogs/create-a-blog

> I can’t use my name, either.
most popular usernames were blocked for some time, you can use them now, if someone already taked it, then write to me

> Hi, I can’t log in… I had not checked my blog for a while and from what I can gather, someone else is running JS now. Does this mean that I have lost all of my entries from the beginning of time? That would be terrible news as I never backed up my blog… Could we get some clarification on this?
you can get more info here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180318319977

> More widgets. Would be nice to be able to add widgets from outside Journalspace… like for example a widget that shows your Netflix rental activity or a photo slideshow, or random quotes.
we will add it soon!

Thanks,
The Journalspace.com development team
